<- 1978, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM I-1-0. Isolated from: underground water, Sverdlovsk region, Russia. Taxonomy/description: shows positive result with Rhodococcus ruber primers in species-specific PCR (245); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (303). Properties: uses propane, n-butane and liquid n-alkanes (C5-C16) as a sole carbon source; produces biosurfactants when growing on n-alkanes (C12-C17) (74); resistant to Pb2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 5, 8 or 11, 28oC).
